Strategic Planning is an Oxymoron

Planning is a closed system project, plan and control. Plenty of management thinkers have described the process, oh and don't forget to implement!

But strategy is an open, innovative emergent process. The two are incompatible. Gilbert Ryle might have described this as a category mistake.

The isomorphic law of systems informs us that this must be the case and yet this obvious problem has not reached the general public and business domains.

Strategy, the capstone unit of business degrees for four decades has been replaced with HRM and this is very problematic.

I will explore these and many other management issues in New-Radical Management which will be available next week from new-radical.com

Nothing yet to purchase but plenty of information, especially about the implication of complexity for society.

All open minded thinkers welcome, strap-in for the ride...
